My Mother, Hilda J, went into Cookeville Regional Medical Center on Sunday with pneumonia. She has been on a ventilator since and not improving as her oxygen levels continue to drop and the mucous in her lungs continues to worsen. It is beginning to look like and end of life situation. My cousin’s baby was born prematurely a little over a year ago and has been in the hospital in Nashville ever since. He has not been doing very well the last couple of weeks, and they plan to take him off of the ventilator today. He is holding on and has been a fighter, but he is very sick. As you're probably aware, several strong tropical storms have recently passed through the Caribbean ... a lot of rain and high winds. Our dear friends Esther and Alex in Cuba have requested prayer for Cuba, particularly the Santiago area, where they live. While they have not reported injuries, there has been fairly extensive damage. Their home came through ok, but not so their property. Power lines and trees downed, likely including fruit trees which they rely upon for food and "barter currency". This comes on top of unemployment, shortages of food and fuel and religious oppression (country-wide). Both are wonderfully-strong awesome believers, putting the Lord first in their lives, and faithful to Him and faithful to serve others in need.

Her husband isn’t stable either and they BOTH need serious help. Individually and collectively. I am usually the only one who can talk to her and get through to her. But I don’t know how else what else I am supposed to do or how to help. It’s heartbreaking for me and I fear we need to set boundaries for when and who can/cannot come visit anymore. I ask for prayers for their hearts and eyes to be nudged and opened to the light of their actions and how to take the steps to get better.
