I prayed for this

Please pray for the Newell family. They moved here from Oregon a few months ago and Logan (16) whom I think visited the youth group once or twice is at Vanderbilt. He has been there for months and has recently had a heart transplant. There are good days and bad days.

Update on Logan to share 12-20-21

Physically Logan is doing great. Progressing slowly but progressing. After two treatments of dialysis his kidney labs improved dramatically! They do not think he will need another treatment and after another day of good numbers they can pull out the line used for that.

His delirium, however, is a problem. Twice he’s fallen twice in the night. He’s not supposed to be up on his own at all and was hallucinating or confused. But today he was not himself. He became angry at times, was pulling at things, attempted to kick his physical therapist, and yelled at us. Anyone who knows Logan knows this is VERY out of character. He’s NEVER like that. He’s been on edge and keeps talking about being eaten or melting or creatures in the room. Earlier today he said dad wasn’t dad and was afraid of him. Ben and I prayed with him and instantly the worst of it lifted. He’s still confused and anxious but not angry or fearful like he was. I’m certain there is a spiritual element here. He hasn’t been sleeping well, and has been so sick for so long. I believe physical illness makes openings for spiritual attack. The doctors have medicines for this also and are implementing a protocol.

I can honestly track Logan’s progress in specifics areas to prayer requests I send out. Thank you!!!!

Today’s top prayer requests are:

•Pray Logan gets restful sleep. We all know sleep is healing for the body, mind, and soul. It’s so difficult in the hospital yet exactly when you need it most.

•Pray for spiritual protection for Logan. In exhaustion, illness, and stress the veil between the physical world and the more real world- the spiritual one- seems to lift some. Please join us in putting on the Armor of God on Logan’s behalf, especially the “shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one.” (Ephesians 6:16)

Praises:

•Praise God for improved kidney function! Logan’s doctors are pleased and impressed!

•Praise God again for Grandma Ethel’s arrival. Ben and I had been switching back and forth. Just in time for transplant Grandma was here to be with Emma, Joe, and Ollie.

•Praise God for Logan’s wonderful siblings. They have kept up a great attitude through all this even as it interrupts the Most Wonderful Time of the Year. Emma especially has been the little mama helping her younger brothers with school and making sure they get outside time before screens.

Thank you so, so much! In Christ, The Newells
